On Sunday, April 15, a 1-day truggy event was held at the M.M.O.R.R.C. off-road track in Malta. The day was sunny but quite windy, which made the jumps quite tricky to handle. On the whole, the track had a lot of grip which compensated for the gusts of wind.
The event consisted of three 7-minute qualifying heats. Out of these six cars, three were XRAY XT8. The rest of the drivers were given another chance in a âśLast Chance Saloonâť style race with the winner securing the last position in the final. This was won by another XRAY driver.
The 30-minute final was hotly contested right from the start. At the midway point, XRAY drivers Kyle Spiteri and Lawrence Mangion, together with Frank Azzopardi had built a good advantage over the rest of the field. This sequence continued until the very end, with Kyle and Lawrence clinching 1st and 2nd place respectively, and thus obtaining a merited 1-2 finish with their XRAY XT8.
